Adult Training
Work Based Learning for Adults (WBLA) is aimed to assist people back into employment by addressing their individual barriers to employment.
This programme operates in conjunction with Job Centreplus (JC+) offering people an additional £10 a week to their Job Seekers Allowance (JSA).
Childcare support is also available for those lone parents seeking employment.
The work-based training programme delivered here at Apex is as follows:
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
The course content is designed for English speakers of other languages unemployed for 6months to help them develop:
- English speaking and understanding skills with the opportunity to undertake an exam
- Soft skills (confidence and motivation)
- Employment seeking skills (CV, application forms, interviews etc.) and Job Search skills
- New or further working experiences with references (dependant on level of language)
- Option to learn basic computing (dependant on level of language)
- Understanding citizenship with introducing UK practise and systems affecting them at work, support and advice available in Leicester and the UK, money matters and basic life skills to help them deal with day-to-day issues.
Length of programme: 26 Weeks
To access these courses, you need to be 25 and over and in receipt of a recognised benefit*. The training is 30 hours a week that starts at 9.30 - 12.30pm and 1.00 - 4.00pm for 5 days a week and whilst on training there will be continual support in seeking employment via our Job search unit.
*Recognised benefits include JSA and Incapacity benefit (although this will be dependant on the rate) and Income Support.
